Our National Partners & Programs

Best Buy is committed to the development and growth of our communities. Through our partnerships with the following national organizations, and the establishment of programs we are working to provide opportunities for youth and strengthen our communities.

The AFI Screen Education Center empowers teachers and students with the filmmakers’ tools of story and character development, design, production, analysis and critique. Applying these skills to the study of core curriculum subjects, students produce short films communicating their understanding of academic subjects. The steps of film development provide a motivating way for students to demonstrate their mastery of the curriculum and standards that all classroom teachers must meet.

GoNorth!
GoNorth! is a free adventure learning program for the K-12 classroom developed at the University of Minnesota. A team of educators, scientists, and K-12 teacher explorers are dog sledding LIVE to 5 circumpolar Arctic locations (2006 - 2010) to educate the world.

The online education program is anchored in natural and social science curricula for K-12 classrooms. Each spring, during the 14-16 week LIVE event, learners enter the online classroom for powerful collaborative opportunities. The team presents live field updates and field research findings in collaboration with NASA and the National Science Foundation.

The result is a community of motivated learners on the Internet acquiring knowledge from the expedition, the Arctic peoples, subject matter experts, and from each other.
